My name is Lina and I am Nikhita's mother. I wrote this book about the medical journey I have been on over the first five years of Nikhita's life. When I was pregnant, doctors told me my daughter was dying in my womb. Many people on the medical staff encouraged me to explore termination options.
I refused. This book is the book I wish I was able to read when everyone was telling me the opposite of what I wanted to hear about my firstborn child. I want to tell a story of hope and inspiration, of how I nurtured Nikhita's life and how she is a completely amazing little girl. I am looking to release my book in May of 2017, God willing!
I organized my book chronologically to take readers through the experience of having a child that many were unsure would make it and then following the journey through all the surgeries and related events that followed.
On top of the transition of being pregnant and grasping what it means to be a mother, I was met with the news of all the complications with my pregnancy.
Once the news settled in that my child was going to be different, I perservered through tests and more tests conducted to forecast what the complications will be.
Finally answers were provided when Nikhita met life in the world and doctors were able to get the answers they were seeking once Nikhita was here making sense of the world around her.
It took a year to really understand what life as a mother was going to be like - this was a milestone of when our path was pretty well defined on what our life was going to consist of.
Surgery on an infant is terrifying, especially with multiple surgeries on top of more surgeries and this dreaded day came and went with answers to many questions.
Fast forward to today and how life is in retrospect of all the options doctors presented us with and the glorious little girl Nikhita has grown up to be.
